Originating from the back Streets of Buenos Aries this sultry dance is more sensual and intimate than the Ballroom Tango. The couples' upper bodies remain close together and their lower bodies apart. The Argentine Tango is about the relationship between man and woman and can be expressed as being danced by two people becoming one, often these routines look as if the couple has become one being with four legs.
At the begining high society initially looked down upon tango, the younger generation in Buenos Aires eventually adopted it. By the early 1900s, the same generation of Argentine wealth took tango to Paris. By 1913, tango became a phenomenon there as well as in London, Berlin, New York and Finland. The elite were forced into accepting it with national pride.
