Amy Catron

In demand from stage to studio, cellist Amy Catron frequently appears as soloist, chamber musician, adjudicator, and clinician. She performs as principal cellist with Sinfonia da Camera and Associate principal cellist of the Illinois Symphony Orchestra. She frequently reviews new publications in the American String Teachers Journal. Her CD, Particles and Prayer, won a silver medal in the Global Music Awards in 2019. Amy Catron is currently a doctoral candidate in Music Education at Boston University and is the String Area Coordinator at Millikin University, where she teaches applied cello, music theory, ear training, and university studies. Recently, Catron presented at the International Symposium on Sociology in Music Education and the National College Music Society Conference. In addition to teaching or researching, Amy is passionate about performing in any context where there is room for more cello.
