Nicola McAteer is a community musician and PhD researcher at the ICCM, York St John University, UK. She entered community work eighteen years ago through the self-advocacy movement which led her on a journey working musically with people for social change.  Nicola’s PhD research explores community music and women amidst a post-pandemic world in crisis using critical participatory action research and autoethnography. Nicola believes the pandemic is an opportunity for reflection, action and realignment of community music’s roots in social justice.
