Fiona Evison

Fiona Evison is a PhD student in Music Education at Western University in Canada. She is a lifelong community musician and a community music (CM) leader, conductor, accompanist, and composer privileged to make music with participants of all ages and abilities in four CM organizations. She has presented research internationally on CM leadership and pedagogy, community composition, community choirs, and the impact of COVID-19 pandemic restrictions on the CM field. Her publications include investigations on the role of community composers (forthcoming, Oxford Handbook of Community Singing), with further focus on composition norms (Canadian Music Educators Journal), spirituality in relational composition (Religions journal) and tertiary education composition pedagogy (forthcoming, Future(s) of Performance, Routledge).  Fiona holds an MA in Community Music and is a board member and journal editor of the Association of Canadian Women Composers.
