Emily Lawler is a current MA Community Music student at York St John University, home of the ICCM. Originally a classically trained violinist from Lowestoft (Suffolk), she is now working in York as a freelance musician with the aim to bring the joy and benefits of musical participation to anyone who wants to experience it. Developing as a practitioner facilitating community choirs, string groups, and (hopefully in the near future!) handbell teams, Emily’s main focus of academic interest lies in the interstices between community music, sociology, and social anthropology.
