Rory Wells

Rory Wells has just completed his Masters at the International Centre for Community Music at York St John University, UK. His research seeks to understand community music as a tool for social change. Rory has worked as a community music facilitator in the UK, and internationally for over a decade in a variety of settings including in schools, music hubs, secure mental health facilities, health and social care, youth work and migrant solidarity contexts. Rory’s performance background is in jazz, hip hop and improvisation informs his approach to working with music to explore freedom and expression. Rory’s special interests include music-making as resistance to hostile environments, music-making as a tool in community development, and community music as a social praxis.
