Lindsey Castellano

Lindsey Castellano is a doctoral candidate at Teachers College, Columbia University. She is the Florence Geffen Fellow for Music Assessment, an applied violin and viola instructor, and the Research Associate for the Centre for Arts Education and Research at Teachers College. Ms. Castellano directed the first International Community Music Research Symposium in the U.S., presented by the program in Music and Music Education at Teachers College in collaboration with the International Centre for Community Music at York St. John. Lindsey most recently worked with Columbia professor, Dr Harold Abeles, to facilitate a community arts organization in New York City schools focused on music and dance. They created a program evaluation and curriculum framework for the arts organization’s teaching artists to implement with students in K-12 settings. The framework is culturally aware and supportive of social justice issues with the goal of educating the whole child.
