Sarah Fisher is a multi-instrumentalist from Gateshead. Originally from Bedfordshire, Sarah moved to the North East to study Community Music at Sage Gateshead, through Sunderland University. Sarah plays percussion and piano and also has Cerebral Palsy. Her Cerebral Palsy affects her left side and speech but she makes sure it doesn’t affect her practice or music-making. Sarah works as a community musician in various contexts and teaches all ages and abilities, including working at Sage Gateshead as a project musician, for Drake Music and Northern Stage. Sarah’s research interests include music’s impact on disability, and music and inclusion. Sarah’s practice is framed around finding ‘A way not the way’ to teach and to focus on peoples abilities.
