Eimear is in the final year of her PhD at the University of York. Her research explores the realisation of music education policy across geographically and socioeconomically diverse communities in Yorkshire. Her doctoral project is based on comparative case studies, conducting qualitative analyses on data collected from Key Stage 3 pupils, music teachers and programme managers across school and community contexts. In 2024, Eimear was awarded the title of Doctoral Fellow at the University of York Humanities Research Centre. Since beginning her PhD, Eimear has taught on a range of undergraduate and postgraduate Music modules at the University of York.
Alongside her studies, Eimear is a music educator, currently working as a Choral Director on Newcastle Cathedral’s Schools Singing Programme. She has also worked as an arts administrator in various organisations in Ireland and the UK, including the Royal Opera and Ballet. Eimear’s work and research is focused on the facilitation of high-quality musical experiences for all children and young people, no matter their circumstances.
