Born and raised in South Africa, Lorinda van Wyk pursued graduate studies in Canada, completing her Masters in Community music at Wilfrid Laurier University in 2021. Lorinda is currently embarking on a PhD in Music Education at the Don Wright Faculty of Music at the University of Western Ontario, Canada. Outside of Canada, Lorinda has worked as a theatre performer, schoolteacher and more recently as a conductor. She has a passion for research, choral music, musical theatre, and stage directing. As an Afrikaans speaker, her current field of interest is whiteness studies, gender and popular music and its effect on the Afrikaans music community in South Africa.
